Creative Freedom - Carmountside Primary and Sally Fitchard

Year one of our Creative Freedom programme is coming to a close, and we’re thrilled to share feedback from some of our partners. Artist Sally Fitchard collaborated with pupils and teachers at Carmountside Primary in Stoke-on-Trent to co-design a clay project where ‘clay buds’ were decorated and showcased in a school-wide exhibition.
The classrooms of Year 3 and Year 6 were transformed into an exploratory clay space, prioritising process over outcome, and embracing the learning journey through design and materials. Teachers noted a positive shift in student engagement and enthusiasm, alongside their own growing confidence in delivering creative workshops and fostering a supportive environment for student growth.
A big thank you to Sally and the students/teachers of Carmountside Primary for their participation in the program. Creative Freedom is proudly funded by Arts Council England UK Government.
