Creative Careers Update - Urban Wilderness and Co-op Academy Stoke

Year one of our Creative Careers programme is coming to a close, and we’re thrilled to share feedback from some of our partners.

Through collaborations between Urban Wilderness and Co-op Academy Stoke, young people in Stoke-on-Trent have been empowered to explore the creative sector by developing design skills and helping to put on a community event.

From designing carnival headdresses to PDF instruction booklets for YouTube/Canva/TikTok, the group learnt about costume materials and techniques including plastazote, floristry ribbon and heat guns. The group were also introduced to the team at Urban Wilderness who shared their creative (non-linear) career journeys as a positive alternative to the narrative young people often hear at school.

The feedback from our students has been heartwarming:

"I’m looking forward to being creative and innovative."

"I like how much freedom I’m allowed to have with new products."

"That was amazing and I want to experience that again."

Huge thank you to Urban Wilderness and Co-op Academy for being part of the Creative Careers programme.

Creative Careers is proudly funded by Arts Council England UK Government.
